Autism Testing for Black, Brown & LGBTQ+ Adults in Nashville, TN, NY
Understanding how you're wired, without pathologizing who you are.
Autism in Black, Brown, and LGBTQ+ adults is historically missed, minimized, or misread, especially in women, femmes, and queer folks who've learned to mask well. Our neurodiversity-affirming autism evaluation is built with that history in mind. You'll receive a full diagnostic evaluation, a written summary, and next-step recommendations tailored to you.

What to Expect with Your Care

Step 2: Comprehensive Autism Testing
Full testing typically includes a combination of the following components:
Clinical interview — an in-depth conversation exploring developmental history, social experiences, sensory patterns, and masking behaviors over the lifespan.
ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition) — a gold-standard, semi-structured observational assessment of social communication and interaction.
MIGDAS-2 (Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum, Second Edition) — a strengths-based, sensory- and interest-informed interview approach designed to capture autism across diverse presentations, including those that mask well on more rigid tools.
Standardized screeners and rating scales — validated measures that add diagnostic precision and help rule in/out overlapping conditions.
Collateral information (optional) — with your consent, we can incorporate input from a family member, current therapist, or a previous provider to strengthen the accuracy and context of the evaluation.
Using both the ADOS-2 and MIGDAS-2 together allows us to capture a fuller range of autistic presentations which includes profiles that are frequently under-identified by observation-only tools, particularly in adults who've spent years masking.
Step 1: Initial Evaluation
Every autism testing journey begins with an initial clinical evaluation. This session covers your developmental and social history, current experiences, sensory patterns, and how differences show up across relationships, work, and daily life. It also confirms that comprehensive testing is the appropriate next step.

Step 3: Feedback & Diagnostic Clarity
After testing is complete, you'll receive a feedback session walking through your results, a clear diagnostic impression, and a written report you can use for accommodations, personal understanding, or coordination with other providers.
